How to install Premiere plugin

1. Download the plugin at https://jsyntax-premiere-pro-plugin.dedux.ca

2. Unzip the contents of jsyntax-workflow-plugin-vx.x.x.zip

3. Copy that newly created folder to your Premiere Pro extensions folder under CEP\\extensions.

   for Mac (create CEP/extensions folders if it doesn’t exist)

   /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions

   for Windows (any of the 3 folders below)

   • C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Premiere Pro 2021\\CEP\\extensions

4. Open Premiere Pro and open a project

   • click "Window"

   • click "Extensions" from the menu

   • click "JSyntax Workflows"

   • Tip: Drag this extension window into a custom Workspace so more easily available

     

How to create YouTube chapter links from timeline markers

1. In a Premiere Pro project, add markers to your timeline.

   1. When adding markers, make sure NO clip on your timeline is selected!

      

2. Name your marker.

   

3. Repeat step 1 - 2 as many times as needed (click image to expand)

   

4. Open the JSyntax Workflow plugin and click “Copy markers to clipboard”

   

5. Paste the chapter links in your YouTube video.

   

Pro tips for annotating your videos faster!

• Always use a keyboard shortcut to create a timeline marker. I personally changed the default shortcut to something that is more ergonomic, CTRL + Q. Press it twice to open the dialog where you name the chapter link.
• As I edit my A-roll, I label groups of clips (using keyboard shortcuts) with a new color to make it easier to distinguish the start and end of a specific topic. When it comes time to annotate YouTube chapters, having these colored labels makes the process more streamlined.
• To prevent accidental selection of individual clips (remember you are adding markers to the timeline only), you can disable “Selection Follows Playhead” under the “Sequence” menu.
